Meet Lauren

Lauren Brown of Inspiring Health.

Education. Accessibility. Empowerment.

Lauren’s work is driven by the desire to combat the current wellness culture which overlooks the influence of systemic factors that determine wellbeing and quality of life and where “health” is only for the privileged few. Her mission is to increase accessibility, enhance awareness and understanding, and empower individuals to determine what personal health & wellness means to them (i.e. not what’s currently “trending”).

Lauren has been interested in human physiology and health, as well as working with others, for as long as she can remember. This passion not only informed the course of her career, but her educational journey too. She attended the University of Guelph where she acquired an Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Human Kinetics, as well as a Master of Science degree in Human Health and Nutritional Sciences (focusing on functional foods and nutraceuticals). It also led her to a certification in Workplace Wellness and Health Promotion from Centennial College and a Health & Wellness Coaching certification from WellCoaches, both of which expanded her understanding of the complex factors which influence personal wellbeing.

Most recently in her educational journey, Lauren has learned more about trauma and how it impacts one’s health and wellbeing, as well as the importance of self-compassion. She has done this through consuming materials by experts in the field, such as Dr. Gabor Maté and Dr. Kristin Neff, and attending courses offered through the Embody Lab focusing on integrative somatic trauma therapy and somatic cognitive behavioural therapy. Although she understands her efforts will be ongoing, Lauren hopes that by expanding her knowledge, she can bring a more trauma-informed approach to the work she does through Inspiring Health.
